Walking with God and Working for God

Reflection on walking with God and working for God.
In the Bible, a walk refers to your personal, daily relationship and intimacy with God. A work, on the other hand, refers to the tasks, ministries, or services you perform to advance His kingdom. Walk represents who you are with God, while work represents what you do for God. While both are essential to the Christian faith, the Bible warns about the danger of working for God without walking with Him. You can work without walking, but a genuine walk with God will naturally overflow into doing His work.
Prayer: God, don't let me be cut off from walking with You while I am busy working for You.
Yours in Christ,
Davidic Warriors

Human Beings: Both Realms (Spiritual and physical) in One Person.

Man is a tripartite being—spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Human beings are composed of two dimensions: the inward and the outward. The inward dimension is invisible, while the outward dimension is visible. The inward dimension consists of the spirit, heart, and soul, whereas the outward dimension is the body.

Influences of the Inward Part on Human Works

The inward part of a person influences his or her actions. In biblical theology, the phrase "human works" refers to human actions, behaviors, and efforts. Scripture distinguishes between two types of works: actions performed through human effort in an attempt to earn salvation, and actions produced by faith through the Holy Spirit. These are commonly referred to as the works of the flesh (self-effort) and good works, respectively.

The Soul

The soul is one of the three elements that influence human works. It is where the will, mind, and emotions operate and affect the body. The soul is the seat of:

- Thoughts
- Emotions
- Decisions
- Reactions
- Behavioral patterns

The Spirit

The spirit is another element that influences human works. It is the out-breathing of God into the creature—the life principle derived from God.

According to Oehler (Old Testament Theology, Vol. I, p. 217):

«“Man is not spirit, but has it; he is soul. ... In the soul, which sprang from the spirit and exists continually through it, lies the individuality—in the case of man, his personality, his self, his ego.”»

Oehler draws attention to the words of Elihu in Job 33:4:

«“The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”»

This passage indicates that the soul is called into being by God's Spirit and is sustained in existence by the Almighty, into whose hands the inbreathed spirit is surrendered when the soul departs from the body.

The Heart

According to the Bible, the heart is the center not only of spiritual activity but also of all the operations of human life. The heart is the “home of the personal life,” and therefore a person is characterized according to the condition of his or her heart: wise (1 Kings 3:12), pure (Psalm 24:4; Matthew 5:8), upright and righteous (Genesis 20:5–6; Psalm 11:2; Psalm 78:72), and pious and good (Luke 8:15).

The heart is also the seat of the conscience (Romans 2:15).

The Two Orders of Life: Interconnection of spiritual and physical realms.

The spiritual and physical realms are not separate or disconnected in the Bible — they are deeply intertwined, with the spiritual realm as the ultimate source and sustainer of the physical. Scripture presents the physical world (what we can see, touch, and measure) as created by, dependent on, and constantly influenced by the unseen spiritual realm. God Himself is spirit (John 4:24), yet He created and actively governs the material universe.

Here’s how the Bible shows their interconnection, with clear examples and verses:

1. Creation: The Physical World Originated from the Spiritual.

   - God (pure spirit) spoke the physical universe into existence. The visible came from the invisible.

   - Hebrews 11:3 – “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

   - Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” The entire creation account shows God’s spiritual command (“Let there be…”) producing physical reality (light, land, life, etc.).

   - The physical realm continues to depend on the spiritual: Colossians 1:17 says of Christ, “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

2. Human Beings: Both Realms in One Person.

   - Every human is a living bridge between the two realms. We have a physical body but a spirit/soul made in God’s image.

   - Genesis 2:7 – “The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground [physical], and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life [spiritual]; and man became a living soul.”

   - This is why the Bible constantly addresses both body and spirit together — sin affects both (Romans 5:12), redemption restores both (Romans 8:23), and death temporarily separates them until resurrection (2 Corinthians 5:8).

3. Jesus Christ: The Perfect Union of Spiritual and Physical.

   - The ultimate example of interconnection is the Incarnation — God becoming man.

   - John 1:14 – “The Word [eternal, spiritual God] became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”

   - Jesus performed physical miracles (healing bodies, calming storms, raising the dead) through spiritual authority. His resurrection proves the two realms are not opposed; the physical will ultimately be redeemed and glorified (1 Corinthians 15:42-44).

4. Elements That Demonstrate Constant Interaction Between the Spiritual and Physical Realms.

1. Prayer.

- Spiritual communication directly affects the physical world.

- James 5:16: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

2. The Holy Spirit.

- The Spirit of God lives within believers and empowers physical actions, guidance, healing, and miracles.

- Romans 8:11; Acts 2:17–18.

3. Angels and Demons.

- Spiritual beings visibly and invisibly intervene in the physical realm. Angels deliver messages and fight battles (Daniel 10:12–13; Acts 12:7–11), while demonic forces can cause physical oppression, sickness, or chaos (Mark 5:1–13; Luke 13:11).

4. Spiritual Warfare.

- What happens in the unseen realm influences outcomes in the visible realm.

- Ephesians 6:12: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

5. The Future: Full Union in the New Creation.

- The Bible concludes with the complete reunification of heaven (spiritual) and earth (physical), with no more separation or curse.

- Revelation 21:1–3 describes “a new heaven and a new earth” where God dwells with humanity forever. The heavenly city comes down to earth, and the two realms become one perfect reality.

Summary of the Biblical View.

The physical realm is real and important (God called His creation “very good”—Genesis 1:31), but it is not the ultimate reality. The spiritual realm is eternal and foundational (2 Corinthians 4:18: “What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”). They are interconnected like root and fruit: the spiritual root continually nourishes, governs, and will one day fully redeem the physical fruit.

This is why biblical Christianity is never “just spiritual” or “just physical”—it encompasses both. Your daily life (physical choices, health, and relationships) is directly influenced by spiritual realities (faith, prayer, obedience, and spiritual warfare), and vice versa.

The Two Orders of Life. (Introduction)

Biblical teaching describes the two orders of life as physical life (the physical order) and spiritual life (the spiritual order). The physical order begins at biological birth and is subject to mortality. The spiritual order, or eternal life, begins with being "born again" through faith in Jesus Christ. These two orders represent a journey. The physical order ends with death, as stated in Ecclesiastes 3:1–2. The spiritual order culminates in eternal life, as noted in Romans 6:22.

6 Secret to longevity by Pastor E.A ADEBOYE

The secret to longevity is knowing when to hide, when to fight, and when to run. There will always be a time to hide if you are going to last long. 1 Kings 17:1), after Elijah told the king that there would be no rain until he commands it, it was God Himself who told him to go and hide.
Whenever you notice that there will be pressure on you to say certain things or take some actions prematurely or without specific instruction from God, you should go into hiding.  Another time to hide is when brethren try to fight you.

The second secret  to longevity: knowing when to fight. When you are confronted by the devil, you shouldn't run or hide; rather, you must stand and fight. Believers wrestle against principalities, powers, the rulers of darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. It also says that believers must put on the whole armour of God, but you will notice that there is no piece of armour to protect our backs. This means that the moment a believer turns his or her back on the devil, he will attack the believer.Get up and fight! Never turn your back on the devil; he does not play fair.
EPHESIANS 6:10-17

Another secret to longevity: knowing the times to run. When it comes to dealing with sin, especially lust, the scripture says that we are not just to run away, but we are to flee! The anointing doesn't work on lust, which means that, no matter how strong or anointed you are, the only thing that works is to flee!
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. - (2 Timothy 2:22)
1 Thessalonians 5:22 says that you should abstain from every appearance of evil. Beloved, if you want to succeed in the race God has set before you, you must flee from all sins and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness.

To enjoy longevity, especially in the kingdom of God, you must refuel and recharge your spiritual batteries regularly. Read the scripture, fast, and pray regularly to maintain spiritual health.

Recharge your physical batteries by eating right and at the right time. As a married man sex is also a way to recharge your physical batteries so that you won't fall into sin. Your physical batteries must not be neglected, as you need them to succeed in your spiritual assignment.

In summary, The first secret to longevity is knowing when to hide. The second secret  to longevity: knowing when to fight. The third secret  to longevity: knowing the times to run. The fourth secret to longevity is knowing you must refuel and recharge your spiritual batteries regularly. The fifth secret to longevity is knowing you must
recharge your physical batteries by eating right and at the right time.
